If you’re like me, you probably go to HP. But most people reading this aren’t like me.

So at HP, they block a lot of websites. Not just gaming websites but real, educational websites. So there’s an easy way to get around the “Corporate policy violation…blah blah blah…website blocked…blah blah blah” message. Just use an online anonymous proxy, of course!

Finding one that’s unblocked

They’re smart. They even block proxies. But what is a proxy? It basically uses another ip address that doesn’t block websites (reroutes the traffic through another server). If you don’t understand, don’t worry.

Type “online anonymous proxy” into Google (or Bing or Yahoo, whatever) and there’ll be lots of results. Chances are, the first one will be blocked. At HP, they don’t block a website called http://proxy.maxsharing.com/. They’ll probably block it now. I’ll just find another one…anyways, the people can’t block all the proxies, can they…

BTW, USE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY!!!

But, you probably won’t…I don’t blame you.

So actually it’s called Pacific Northwest English or Cascadian English but I’ve only heard Oregon and Washington accents before so I can only comment on those.

Oregon accent differences…

…with Texas accent.

First, there is something really unsettling about CONSONANT ASPIRATION. Especially some consonants. I think this is pretty self explanatory…

Secondly, their /u/ is more of a /ü/ sound…like 1% different

The Oregon accent is similar to the SW Canada English accent…a little bit.

How to tell the difference…

Step 1: Know your regional dialect

You need to know your regional dialect to see if the person is an outsider.

Step 2: Observe

Notice any subtle differences in speech? If not, pick another person.

Other

I used this wonderful method to realize that at least two people in one of my classes have lived sometime in NW United States: one in Washington (Seattle, apparently), one in Oregon* (eight years, apparently).

*So actually, I really didn’t know the person has lived in Oregon, I just noticed something very unsettling about the individual’s speech…so I compared him to another person who comes from Washington and noticed striking similarities in their speech (especially aspiration).

Beware! The internet is a wealth of information. Sometimes, this information can be used against you. For example, I can find out a lot of stuff about you with just your first and last name. A computer login name helps but it’s not necessary.

What I can find out about you

aka: what damage I can do to you

  • grades
  • schedule
  • computer login name
  • computer password (USING A COMPUTER PROGRAM I MADE*)
  • use your account for lunch money
  • find out where you live
  • find out how much you(r parents) paid for your house
  • find out how much you(r parents) pay in property taxes
  • find out how much you’re house is worth
  • find out how many bedrooms/bathrooms/living rooms/dining rooms/porches/etc you have in your house
  • find out how much your house has been devaluated
  • (sometimes I can) find out your phone number

*I can do this in about an hour

Will I ever do this?

No, all this information is useless to me…but it is useful to online criminals, advertising companies, and other sketchy people…so protect your information.
